While we appreciate suggestions to improve JProfileGrid, there
are no immediate plans for implementing any significant changes,
e.g. integrating a linked viewer for 3D structures or
phylogenetic trees. We encourage programmers to incorporate the
ProfileGrid representation into alignment visualization
programs.
Meet the Team
Alberto I. Roca, Ph.D., Assistant Project Scientist
Dr. Roca was a Project Scientist working with Alex McPherson in
the Molecular Biology & Biochemistry Department at the University
of California, Irvine. His research involves using biophysical
and bioinformatic approaches to understand the molecular
mechanism of recombinational DNA repair. He received his Ph.D. in
Molecular Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Aaron C. Abajian, Undergraduate
Mr. Abajian was a UC-Irvine undergraduate who triple majored in
Computer Science & Engineering, Mathematics, and Biology. He has
a strong interest in bioinformatics and plans to pursue a joint
MD/Ph.D. program in the future. Currently he is in a 2-year fellowship
with Teach for America.
Funding
A.I.Roca was supported by a University of California President's
Postdoctoral Fellowship, the Erasmo Foundation, and a National
Institutes of Health Diversity Supplement (parent grant GM058868
to Alexander McPherson). A.C.Abajian was supported by the
UC-Irvine Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program.
